When Metcalfe, Noble, and Gale left the band « Abdabs » (or « Screaming’ Abdabs »), Bob Klose and Syd Barrett who played in the band Blues Anonymous joined the remaining members, Roger who takes the bass, Rick and Nick.

He recorded demos with the new incarnation called « The Tea Set » before to leave the band on December 1965.

In 2006 Klose appeared as a guest performer on David Gilmour's album "On An Island".

- PINK FLOYD MEMBER -

Light show pioneer Mike Leonard worked closely with Pink Floyd in the mid-1960s when they were known as Leonard’s Lodgers (they lived in Leonard’s home) and later The Pink Floyd Sound.  He was occasionally on keyboards during early gigs.

Working with colored cellophane and glass attached to rotating wheels and various prisms and lenses through which light was projected, Leonard managed to create lysergic effects that complimented Floyd’s psychedelic sound.

Clive studied at Southampton Art College and Chelsea School of Art. He was a founding member of Sigma 6 along with Roger, Juliet, Nick and later Rick.

He worked as a designer and as a Build Manager. With Keith Noble, he co-writer the «A Summer Song» recorded by Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde who was a minot hit.

From 1999 to 2006, he ran the Metcalfe-Hofmann Studio Gallery in Deal, featuring Clive’s paintings and reproductions, and craftwork by leading makers.

Completed many corporate commissions, including the British Museum and Dover Harbour, and paintings used in several books

Keith NOBLE

Keith Noble and Clive Metcalfe formed the band Sigma 6. Nick Mason and Roger Waters met Keith in 1963 at the Regent Street Polytechnic in London, and played together in Sigma 6, joined later by Richard Wright.

Keith and Clive quit the band on summer 64

In 1970, he releases an album entitled « Mr. Compromise » with Clive Metcalfe, Sheila Noble and Bob Klose (three of members of the pre-Pink Floyd incarnations).

He was was an English chorus-master and conductor. He worked with the London Philharmonic Choir in 1969.

In 1970, he conducted the choir for the fist performance of the track Atom Heart Mother for the album « Atom Heart Mother ».

In 1965, Boyd works in England for the office of Elektra Records In 1966, Boyd and John "Hoppy" Hopkins opened the UFO Club at London's Tottenham Court Road. 

He worked with UFO regulars Pink Floyd, and produced their first single, Arnold Layne With his production company, Witchseason, he produced albums of. Soft Machine, the Incredible String Band, Martin Carthy, Nick Drake among others.

Boyd returned to the United States at the end of 1970 to work as a music producer for « Warner Bros » company.

Marc BRICKMAN

American producer, lighting designer and production designer. He worked with Pink Floyd when he was called at the last minute to help the band to set up the lights for 1980 « The Wall » live.

Since he worked with the New Pink Floyd and Roger Waters many times.

Samantha « Sam » BROWN

- SINGER & SONGWRITER -

Sam Brown has sung on David Gilmour’s « About Face » (1984) with his mother Vickie, « The Division Bell » (1994), and on the subsequent tour.

Gilmour has also contributed guitar to her two solo albums, and they have performed live together several times. She had a minor hit with the song Stop.

Her mother, the late Vickie Brown has collaborated with Waters Vickie Brown provided vocals in « Radio K.A.O.S. (1987) but before that she had also sung on About Face » (1984) with her daughter, as she did again in Knebworth '90 for the Floyd.

Jon CARIN

Jon Carin first met Gilmour for the Ferry’s «Live Aid». He co-wrote "Learning To Fly" and he takes keyboards for «A Momentary Lapse Of Reason» (1987). He accompanied Pink Floyd as an additional keyboard player and backing vocalist during their Momentary Lapse of Reason tour (1987-1990). 

He worked with Gilmour on "film project" sessions which produced Gilmour's soundtrack for Ruby Takes A Trip (1991) and The Colours Of Infinity (1992). 

Then he provided additional keyboards in Floyd's «La Carrera Panamericana» (1992). He contributed additional keyboards and programming in The Division Bell (1994) and performed live with Pink Floyd. He worked with Roger Waters since his 1999’ « In the Flesh tour »

 

Canadian producer, he worked with the band on the recording of «The Wall», «A Momentary Lapse of Reason» and «The Division Bell». He worked on Gilmour’s «About Face» and was the first choice of Waters for his «Radio KAOS» (he eventually declined the invitation to take part of the 1987’ Floyd album). He participated to the musical direction of the 1987-1989 tour.

- STAGE DESIGNER -

Architect, he worked on the most elaborate stage design in rock history with J.Park.

In 1976, he was commissioned to build a set of inflatable sculptures for Pink Floyd’s ‘Animals’ tour, with engineer Jonathan Park, and in 1979 they were asked to design the Pink Floyd arena show « The Wall ». 

He worked on the first Roger Waters tours in 1984 and 1987, plus « The Wall in Berlin » show.  He worked on the 1994 « The Division Bell » tour for Pink Floyd.

In 1984 Mark and Jonathan formed the Fisher Park partnership. In 1994 the Fisher Park partnership was dissolved and Mark established « The Mark Fisher Studio » which later became known as  « STUFISH Entertainment Architects ». He worked on the 2010 « The Wall » shows prior his death. 

 

Claudia FONTAINE

- MUSICIAN -

Alongside Caron Wheeler and Naomi Thompson in Afrodiziak, Claudia Fontaine was one of the 1980s’ most sought-ater backing vocalists. 

She recorded with Annie Lennox, Elvis Costello, The Jam, Madness and Neneh Cherry, to name just a few, as well as singing on The Special AKA’s 1984 hit, “Free Nelson Mandela”. 

Ten years later, Fontaine joined Pink Floyd’s The Division Bell Tour.

Starting his career in 1972 as resident photograph for Rainbow Theater in London, she has documented the majors rock musicians as Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Mike Oldfield, The Ramones, Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse, Eric Clapton, Blondie, The Police, The Clash, The Undertones, The Sex Pistols, The Pretenders and Oasis among others.

She was very close of Pink Floyd for whom she takes pictures during the 1974 « British Winter Tour » or recording sessions for « Wish you were here » album among others.

Ron GEESIN

Ron originally began as member of The Original Downtown Syncopators jazzband between 1961 and 1965. The next year, he  commenced his solo career. He recorded some music for films, TV or radio show and gave some live show at the end of the sixties where he shared some bills with Pink Floyd. He releases the album "A Raise Of Eyebrows" in 1967.

After became friend with Nick and then Roger, he made with the late the soundtrack for a TV documentary "The Body".

He co-wrote Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother. 

In June 2008, Atom Heart Mother was the climax of his 2 concerts to open the Chelsea Festival at the Cadogan Hall, with David Gilmour as guest on the second night.

Robert Frederick «Bob» GELDOF

Bob Geldof was the leader of the British-punk band The Boomtown Rats.

He was hired to the main role for « Pink Floyd The Wall ». He remained close of all members of the band.

As activist, he organized some major charity events as « Live Aid » in 1985 or « Live 8 » 20 years later.

He was the responsible of the full-reunion of Pink Floyd with Roger Waters.

Nick GRIFFITHS

Nick Griffiths became associated with the Pink Floyd when he engineered Damned’s «Music For Pleasure» produced by Nick Mason. He then went on to engineer Gilmour's first LP and Wright's Wet Dream in 1978.
Then, he become part of the team of engineers for The Wall 1978-79 sessions. He engineered Mason+Fenn's Profiles (1985) and then collaborated with Waters, co-producing and engineering his part of the soundtrack of «When The Wind Blows» (1986) and «Radio K.A.O.S». (1987). 

He work with the solo members since.

James GUTHRIE

Guthrie first became involved with Pink Floyd in 1979 when he was brought in to co-produce « The Wall » sessions, for which he also shared mixing and engineering duties with producer Bob Ezrin. He subsequently mixed The Wall live performances and was the Front-Of-House mixer (1980-81) as well as recording supervisor for the live shows. 

He mixed Nick Mason's first solo album. He produced, mixed and engineered the film soundtrack for « Pink Floyd The Wall » (1982) and « The Final Cut » (1983). Guthrie also mixed Gilmour's « About Face » (1984) solo album. He supervised the digital remastering and 5.1 remix for the band's back catalogue and the Roger Waters works.

Roy HARPER

English folk rock singer, songwriter and guitarist, Roy Harper released 32 albums. He was an influence for many contemporaries artists as Jimmy Page, and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Pete Townshend of The Who or Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull,

He was only artist to be guested as main musician in a Pink Floyd album by taking vocals on Have A Cigar. He played live two times with the band in 1968 and 1975. 

David Gilmour played with him on record and live.

Brian HUMPHRIES 


- SOUND ENGINEER -

Humphries started as a tape operator at London’s Pye Studios in late 1964. He recorded the soundtrack of « More » for Pink Floyd. 

In 1969 he engineered the live tracks for « Ummagumma » LP and also recorded the band’s contributions to the « Zabriskie Point » film soundtrack.
Since this year, Humphries recorded and mixed Pink Floyd recording included Roger Waters’ compositions on the « Music From The Body » soundtrack.

He recorded the 1974 Webley gig. He became producer after the departure of Alan Parsons for « Wish you were here » album.

Peter JENNER

With his friend Andrew King, Jenner co-founded Blackhill Enterprises, in 1966.

 They produced Pink Floyd, T. Rex, Ian Dury, Roy Harper, The Clash among. others.

Blackhill were set up the first Hyde Park Free Festival in 1969.

Jackson began to work as an engineer for Pink Floyd as assistant of James Guthrie for the recording of the performances of  «The Wall» at Earls Court. He then worked on the film soundtrack and on «The Final Cut», «A Momentary Lapse of Reason» and  «The Division Bell» among others. He has worked on all of Gilmour's recordings/multimedia projects as an engineer and/or co-producer since 1984. He was also the engineer on Roger Waters' first solo album

Michael Arnold KAMEN

Kamen first worked with Floyd in 1979, when he was asked to arrange orchestral scores for «The Wall» (1979) and he also produced «The final cut». He also contributed piano, orchestral arrangements, and conduction to Waters «The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking». He brought orchestral arrangements for the «About Face». He also accompanied Waters as a member of his touring band, with Eric Clapton, Andy Fairweather-Low, Tim Renwick, Mel Collins and others.

His orchestral scores were to be featured again on both Waters' Amused To Death (1992) and Pink Floyd's The Division Bell (1994). Before his untimely death, he performed with Gilmour in the latter's 2001 Meltdown concert and again in Gilmour's 2002 London and Paris concerts..

Adrian Maben filmed the band in the Arena of Pompeii in 1971 and shot some additional footage in 1973. He worked for the French TV. 

He worked with members of the band (Waters mainly) on some documentaries in the seventies.

Phil MANZANERA

Guitarist and producer, having shot to prominence in the early '70's as the lead guitarist with the band, Roxy Music. 

Fan of Pink Floyd, he became friend of David Gilmour at the end of the seventies and eventually works with him on « A Momentary Lapse of Reason » in 1987.

Arthur Max is an American movie production designer. He began as a stage lighting designer in the music industry. He worked for Bill Graham's Fillmore East and on the Woodstock Festival of 1969. 

He was hired by Pink Floyd for the 1970 US tour. He worked on the subsequent tours until to be fired after the 1974 British Winter Tour for disagreement about the future design (who included screen movies). Since then he worked with David Fincher or Ridley Scott among many others.

Anthony MOORE

Anthony Moore is a British experimental music composer, performer and producer. He was a founding member of the band Slapp Happy, worked with Henry Cow and has made a number of solo albums, including Flying Doesn't Help (1979) and World Service (1981).

As a lyricist, he has collaborated with Pink Floyd on « A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) » and « The Division Bell (1994) », and contributed music to the instrumental Calling from « The Endless River » (2014). He contributed lyrics to Richard Wright's « Broken China » (1996)

Bryan MORRISON

With his company, the « Bryan Morrison Agency », he became one of the leading London booking agents for R&B and progressive rock, as well as organising tours for US acts. 

Bryan represented bands as Fairport Convention, Incredible String Band, Tyrannosaurus Rex, The Pretty Things, the Deviants and the Pink Fairies.

In 1968 he formed Lupus Music, a publishing company representing Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett, The Pretty Things and The Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation, T. Rex, Doctors of Madness and Free.

David « Davy » O'LIST

13 December 1950

- MUSICIAN -

English rock guitarist, vocalist and trumpeter. He has played with The Attack, The Nice, Roxy Music (before being replaced by Phil Manzanera), and Jet (replaced by Ian Macleod). 

He played as support of Syd Barrett on a 1967’s gig. He maintained relationships with the rest of the band through the years.

STEVE O’ROURKE 

1 October 1940 – 30 October 2003

- BAND MANAGER -

Firstly employee for the Bryan Morrison Agency while the band was managed by Peter Jenner and Andrew King. He eventually  took over managing the band. 

In the early 1970s, O'Rourke left NEMS, and founded his own company, EMKA Productions,

He remained the manager of Pink Floyd until his death in 2003. He found the EMKA Racing with David Gilmour and Nick Mason.

His funeral service was held on 14 November 2003 at Chichester Cathedral was the first of the four Pink Floyd reunion.

- MUSICIAN -

Son of Bill page, Scott Page worked with many major acts as Supertramp and Toto as additional saxophone.

He played during the « A Momentary Lapse » tour in 1987-1989.

He is currently CEO of Think:EXP, a Los Angeles-based media company focused on live immersive entertainment.

Richard « Dick » PARRY

Dick Parry has been a Cambridge friend of Gilmour's who had already recorded with Tim Renwick and Quiver before his first official session with the Floyd in 1972-73. He played saxophone on The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), the 1973-75 tours, Wish You Were Here (1975), and in Floyd's Europe '77 / In The Flesh (1977) tours. He was recruited again in 1994 to play sax on The Division Bell (1994) and the 1994 tour, which produced p.u.l.s.e. (1995). Parry also joined Gilmour's In Concert (2001-2) shows. He is also said to have played saxophone at Steve O'Rourke's funeral.

Alan PARSONS

Aubrey « Po » POWELL

- VISUAL DESIGNER -


He co-founded design company « Hipgnosis » with Storm Thorgerson in 1967.  He first worked with Pink Floyd on the album cover of « A Saucerful fo Secrets » the next year.

« Hipgnosis » provided many albums covers since along with tour programme and other visual works until « The Wall ». The company work with many others majors artist. 

During the eighties1980s, Hipgnosis provided work for advertising, designing and producing campaigns. After « Hipgnosis » eventually disbanded, Aubrey created « Greenback Films » in 1982, shooting music videos. 

Following the Storm’s death,  he returned as Pink Floyd chief designer since with « The Division Bell » 20th anniversary boxset.

John RAVENSCROFT PEEL

John Peel was disc jockey for the musical program host on BBC Radio 1 station network. 

He participated to the visibility of the new scene of England’s artists. He was a great support for Pink Floyd band from the beginning.

Guy Pratt is a session musician, he played for David Bowie, Madonna and Michael Jackson among others. He played as actor when he was younger.

He has been the bassist in post-Waters Pink Floyd since the Momentary Lapse tours of 1987-89. He also played in Knebworth '90 (1990), La Carrera Panamericana (1992), The Division Bell (1994), and the 1994 world tour which produced p.u.l.s.e. (1995).

He played on the solo albums of David Gilmour and since in the Nick Mason’s band.

He married the daughter of Richard Wright.

Raphael RAVENSCROFT

First know for his association with Gerry Rafferty (he was the sax player for Baker Street) for whom he won £80,000 in royalties, he worked then as studio musician. 

He was hired for « The Final Cut » (1983) album and worked on the first solo album of Roger Waters and his subsequent tour.

He worked with David Gilmour too.

Timothy John Pearson RENWICK

7 August 1949

- MUSICIAN -

Friend of Pink Floyd’s members. He played on the solo albums of David Gilmour and Roger Waters. He played with Eric Clapton on the «Pros & cons of hitch-hiking» tour in 1984.

Eventually, he played the second guitar (and some lead parts) on the « Momentary Lapse » tour between 1987 and 1989. He played second and lead guitar on « The Division Bell » tour.

He was on stage for the reunion concert at Live 8 on July 2005.

Polly SAMSON

Polly Samson begins as journalist. She met David Gilmour and eventually being married on July 1994.

She wrote many lyrics for the band and for David Gilmour solo albums since 1994.

Barbet SCHROEDER

- MOVIE MAKER -

Schroeder's founded the production company « Les Films du Losange » in 1965 who produced some of the best-known films of the French « nouvelle vague ». 

His directorial debut, « More » (1969), became a hit in Europe. Pink Floyd wrote music for this movie and released the album, « More ». They also wrote the soundtrack for his 1972 film « La Vallée », released as the album « Obscured by Clouds » (1972).

NORMAN « Hurricane » SMITH

- RECORD PRODUCER -

After an unsuccessful career as a jazz musician, Smith joined EMI as an apprentice sound engineer in 1959.

After some minor works, Smith became the sound engineer on all of the EMI studio recordings by the Beatles until « Rubber Soul ».

He asked to become as producer for EMI studios. He produced « The Piper at the Gates of Dawn », « A Saucerful of Secrets », and « Ummagumma ». He even played drums on Remember a Day.
After producing many other artist, mainly the Pretty Things’ « S.F. Sorrow … », he became singer under the name « Hurricane » Smith. He had a couple of minor hits.

One year after he wrote an autobiography « John Lennon Called Me Normal », he died following a polo accident.

Anthony STERN

Film assistant for Peter Whitehead, he was friend of Syd Barrett in the sixties. He worked on films «Tonight, let’s all make love in London» and«San Fransisco» where fettered Pink Floyd.

Recently, he worked on « Get all that, Ant ? » who show unreleased footage and pictures of Pink Floyd.

Roadie of the band since the end of the sixties to the mid-seventies. He is pictured on the «Ummagumma» back cover and his voice can be heard on the Alan Psychedelic breakfast for the « Atom Heart Mother » album.

Storm Elvin THORGERSON

- GRAPHIC DESIGNER -

Storm with his colleague Aubrey Powell are childhood friends of Roger, Syd and David. They confused the graphic design studio Hipgnosis, which will be responsible for almost all of the band's visuals, including the album covers from 'A Saucerful of Secrets' onwards. 

The studio also worked with Peter Gabriel, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney and others.


When the structure was dissolved, it worked on its own on advertising videos and then returned to the Floyd’s nest in 1987.

Clare H. TORRY

- MUSICIAN -

Clare Torry is well-know for his vocal performance on The Great Gig in the Sky on « The Dark Side of the Moon ».

She has repeated her performance live four more times: three during Waters' 1987 tour and one for Pink Floyd at Knebworth '90. Torry has also provided vocals on Four Minutes from « Radio K.A.O.S. » (1987).

She sued the band to obtain a co-credit for his vocalisations.

Gary WALLIS

Gary Wallis is a percussionist who worked with a number of prominent British bands or artists as The Truth, Style Council, David Bowie or Nick Kershaw.

In 1987, Wallis was invited to join Pink Floyd, playing on their A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour 1987-1989 (and the 1990 Knebworth one-gig). In 1993-94 Wallis played percussion during sessions for Pink Floyd's then-upcoming album, The Division Bell (1994), he went on to perform with them on The Division Bell world tour in 1994.

English guitarist. He became the second guitarist of the band for the 1977 «In the Flesh tour». He played on the 1980 «The Wall performed live» tour. 

He joined the Roger’s camp for the 1990’s Berlin Wall show. He played guitar on the « Amused to Death »’s demos.

Since 1999, he played with Roger Waters on his tour. Snowy was called again by Waters to join him in his extensive «In The Flesh», «Dark Side of the Moon», «The Wall» and «Us+Them»

John 'Willie' Wilson played drums with Gilmour in Joker's Wild (1965-67) as well as Sutherland Brothers and Quiver, and has collaborated with Rick Wills (Joker's Wild and David Gilmour bassist), Tim Renwick, Dick Parry, and Jerry Shirley (who also played with Barrett and Gilmour). He contributed drums in The Madcap Laughs (1970) and Barrett (1970) sessions. He played drums with Gilmour and Rick Wills again on David Gilmour (1978) and he was part of the 'Surrogate Band' in The Wall live shows (1980-81), playing drums with Mason. He also contributed drums in The Wall - Music For The Film (1982).
